Skinny fries

image

Do you ever feel like being bad on the weekend and wanted some fries? I didn’t want to waste a lot of oil, so I decided to cut 1 potato into fries in very small strips and shallow fried in a  frying pan. Seasoned with paprika, salt and black pepper. Important note: make sure fries are all equal size to prevent some get burned before others gets golden.

Chinese style ginger green onion stir fry dungeness crab

image

My first attempt to cook crab. It turned out really well. Although the kitchen ended up a bit messy. But smells like what you would get from a Chinese restaurant.

Instructions:
1. Clean and separate crab into desirable pieces while raw.
2. Dip all exposed meat area with corn starch and swallow fry until shell turns  red color.

Stir fry
1. Use handful of ginger, stem part of green onion, garlic to stir fry in oil until fragrant. (More ginger will help balance the dish)
2. Put crab into wok, add cooking wine, oyster sauce, chicken stock, sugar, little bit of salt and cover with lid.
3. Cooked for 4-5 minute.
Optional: if sauce is not thick enough add in cornstarch water mixture to thicken.
4. Add in green part of green onion in and shut off stove. Stir to mix well.

Coolest Teacup from Magisso

I love the quality of tea that loose tea leaf gives me. But hate drinking bits of the tea leaf. This is perfect for people like me; easy and stylish. 😛 Thinking whether I should get black or white.

Here’s how it works.

Jacket for my whippet

Wally jacket 1 Wally jacket 2

Because my dog has got a really long body, it’s impossible to get doggie coat from pet shop. I’m glad I know how to sew. Look at his new jacket. The tiger stripe pattern suites him so well as he is naturally brindle in color. It turned out better than I thought. 🙂

Israeli couscous with pan fried basa fish

image

Craving for some crabs. My first attempt to try Israeli couscous. Very interesting texture. It’s nothing like the small typical couscous. Served with salad.

Israeli couscous cooked from left over fennel braise liquid (chicken stock) from yesterday’s dinner.

Basa fish pan fried with olive oil and paprika garlic mix.

My awesome salad container

image

Love the way there is a snap-in removable ice pack.

image

What about a separate compartment for the dressing. Also features a unique twist and release dressing dispenser built in.

image

Encourage me to bring more salad as lunch because the container is so cool.

image

Twist to release dressing. Then shake to mix dressing with the salad greens. Can hold up to 4 cups of fresh greens.

Love of totoro continue

image

I made this tiny totoro stuff animal with instructions from youtube. Loves it, but surprised by how much time it takes to make all the parts and attach it to the body. I’m not sure if I have enough will power to make another one in the future.
